By the order of the Highway Superintendent of the Town of DeRuyter the following sections of Town Highways are declared closed for the winter season of 2011-2012 by Highway Law 205-a . Declared Seasonal Limited Use  as follows: 
Arnold Rd. from Cary Rd. 1.47 miles to John Finch Residence
Barrett Rd. .50 miles from Dugway Rd. to Cazenovia Town Line .31 miles
Corkinsville Rd. from Barrett Rd. to Cazenovia Town Line .20 miles
Fairbanks Rd. from Smith Rd. to Cazenovia Town Line 1.88miles
Richmond Rd. From Lincklaen Rd. to End .79 miles
Chapman Rd. from Carpenter Rd. to Georgetown Town Line 1100 ft.Sherman Rd. from Crumb Hill Rd. #58 to Chenango Cty. [Lincklaen] 1.15 miles

The highway department maintains a total of 30.34 miles of Town roads.  23.8 miles of Town roads are paved and approximately 6.5 miles are seasonal gravel roads.
 
The Town of DeRuyter highway department plows, salts and sands a total of 51.14 miles of roads during the winter season.  5.1 miles are State roads, 22.2 miles are County roads and 23.8 miles are Town roads.  Between 3,000 and 4,000 tons of sand are used per winter and 700 to 1,000 tons of salt is required to maintain the roads every winter.
