The highway department maintains a total of 30.34 miles of Town roads. 23.8 miles of Town roads are paved and approximately
6.5 miles are seasonal gravel roads.
The Town of DeRuyter highway department plows, salts and sands a total of 51.14 miles of roads during the winter season.
5.1 miles are State roads, 22.2 miles are County roads and 23.8 miles are Town roads. Between 3,000 and 4,000 tons of
sand are used per winter and 700 to 1,000 tons of salt is required to maintain the roads every winter.
